Roadrunner United était un projet organisé par le label de heavy metal Roadrunner Records pour célébrer son 25e anniversaire. Le 15 décembre 2005, à New York, Roadrunner Records a produit le Metal Concert pour mettre fin à tous les concerts de Metal : 39 musiciens, représentant 25 groupes Roadrunner différents, ont interprété 25 chansons du répertoire de 19 groupes différents. Cette agrégation unique et sans précédent de musiciens n'était pas une jam session. Chaque chanson a été soigneusement répétée et arrangée, s'assemblant avec une perfection exubérante, pour produire un concert que l'on ne peut qu'appeler " Légende ". Conçu comme faisant suite aux sessions d'enregistrement de Roadrunner United All-Star, le label a recruté le noyau de musiciens (Dino Cazares, Adam Duce, Paul Gray, Joey Jordison, Andreas Kisser et Roy Mayorga) comme colonne vertébrale de la performance. Effectivement, alors qu'ils peaufinaient les chansons et les répétaient sans relâche, des dizaines d'autres musiciens se sont joints à nous. Cet ensemble représente le rassemblement d'une communauté de musiciens qui couvre l'histoire du heavy metal des 25 premières années de Roadrunner Records : de King Diamond à Slipknot et au-delà. Ceux qui ont eu la chance d'être là ont vécu une nuit qu'ils n'oublieront jamais. Pour la première fois en tant qu'album de concert live, cet album est l'occasion de revivre encore et encore cette soirée spéciale.
