HMV RETURN POLICY

At hmv, we value your business and want you to be happy with everything that you purchase from us.
 

CDs; DVDs; Blu-ray Discs; Accessories; Video Game Consoles; Headphones & Electronics
Unopened items (manufacturer sealed in its original condition including packaging and all original content) accompanied by the
original Sales Receipt* within 21 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for any other item of equivalent value in the store.
OR
Refund in the original form of payment or issue of an hmv Gift Card of equivalent value.
* Unopened items accompanied by the original Gift Receipt may be exchanged for an equivalent value item or hmv Gift Card.
Opened items confirmed to have a manufacturer’s defect** accompanied by all manufacturers packaging and all original content
with the original Sales or Gift Receipt within 21 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for the identical item (if the identical item is not available, an hmv Gift Card may be issued of equivalent value).
**Most video game consoles, electronic items and headphones include a manufacturer warranty to cover defective items. Contact
the manufacturer for assistance before returning to an hmv store if you did not purchase the hmv Extended Protection Plan. If you
did purchase the hmv Extended Protection Plan follow the instructions provided in the Plan brochure.
 

iPods
Unopened iPods (manufacturer sealed, in its original condition including packaging and all original content) accompanied by the
original Sales Receipt* within 7 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for any other item of equivalent value in the store.
OR
Refund in the original form of payment or issue of an hmv Gift Card of equivalent value.
Opened iPods are NON RETURNABLE. Refer to www.apple.ca for information regarding potential defective units or technical issues.
 

Extended Service Plan
The Extended Service Plan is refundable within 21 days of purchase (7 days for iPods) when accompanied by the original Sales
Receipt* providing the plan has not been redeemed.
 

Video Games & PC Games
Unopened video games (manufacturer sealed in its original condition including packaging and all original content) accompanied by
the original Sales Receipt* within 7 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for any other item of equivalent value in the store.
OR
Refund in the original form of payment or issue of an hmv Gift Card of equivalent value.
Opened video games confirmed to have a manufacturer’s defect accompanied by all manufacturers packaging and all original
content with the original Sales or Gift Receipt within 7 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for the identical video game (if the identical video game is not available, an hmv Gift Card may be issued of equivalent
value).
 

Software Warranty
The software warranty is refundable within 7 days of purchase when accompanied by the original Sales Receipt* providing the
warranty has not been redeemed.
 

Clothing
Clothing items with all tags intact accompanied by the original Sales Receipt* within 21 days of purchase may be returned for:
Exchange for any other item of equivalent value in the store.
OR
Refund in the original form of payment or issue of an hmv Gift Card of equivalent value
Clothing deemed to have been worn or washed and clothing that has been discounted are NON RETURNABLE.
 

Books; Guides; LPs; Magazines; purehmv Cards; hmv Gift Cards; iTunes Cards; Xbox 360 Cards; Wii Cards; PSP go Cards; Candy
and Confections
These items are NON RETURNABLE.
 

purehmv
The purehmv card activation fee is NON RETURNABLE.
Your purehmv card must be presented at the time of the return if points were earned on the original transaction. If your purehmv
card is not presented your refund or exchange request will not be completed.
When returning items that were purchased using purehmv points, the equivalent dollar value of the redeemed points will be
refunded to an hmv gift card. Any outstanding refund amount will be returned to the original form of payment.
 

NOTE:
**hmv will defer to the manufacturer’s warranty where indicated.
Any item that is returned without the promotional item(s) included with the original transaction (i.e. buy 3 items, get 1 item free; buy
video game, get free gift card) will have the value of the promotional item deducted from the refund amount.
All returns and exchanges must be made in the country of original purchase.
