The Polaris Music Prize is Canada’s only monetary prize for a full-length album based solely on artistic merit, without regard to genre or record sales. The 10 album Short List has been entirely selected by music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers from across the country.

Karkwa are the most talked about Quebec band in the past four years. The band's name is a phonetic rendering of carquois (French for a quiver of arrows). Their fourth full length CD to date Les chemins de verre, is exactly what that their thousands of dedicated fans have been waiting for. According to the band, this new album will surely exceed the high expectations, as it is their most accomplished album to date. Karkwa’s last album sold more than 30,000 copies and won the Best Alternative Album at the 2008 ADISQ Gala. The band also won a Felix for Best Songwriter.
